THE BEST OF AMAZING CHINA
Day 1- DEPARTURE:
Board an overnight flight to China’s capital, Beijing. Dinner, breakfast and movies on board.
Day 2- ARRIVE BEIJING:
Upon arrival, we are transferred to our hotel for check-in and rest from the long flight.
Day 3- BEIJING:
This morning, we visit the Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square where the Republic of China was proclaimed in 1949. Next, the Forbidden City, a large compound of palaces and courtyards previously home to the imperial courts of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Afternoon we travel to the Imperial Summer Palace, rebuilt by the Dowager Empress Ci Xi as a royal resort in 1888 after British and French troops burned it down. This beautiful resort is comprised of pavilions, temples and galleries situated around Kunming Lake. We also stop at the Bejing Zoo to visit the Giant Pandas. Tonight’s welcome dinner is the famous Peking Duck.
Day 4- EXCURSION TO THE GREAT WALL & MING TOMBS:
Today’s excursion takes us outside the city to the Seventh Wonder of the World- the Great Wall. Begun around 220 B.C., this awesome 3,000 mile long wall was built to keep out the Mongolian invaders. After lunch, we visit the Ming Tombs in the Valley of the Emperors, the burial site for 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. This evening, we end the day with the well known Perking Opera.
Day 5- BEIJIN/XIAN:
This morning, we visit the Templeof Heaven, a masterpiece of the 15th century Chinese arquitecture, where emperors came to pray for good harvests and guidance. Next, we take an exciting rickshaw tour of the hutongs, the “Old City” neighborhoods of narrow alleyways and courtyard gardens with kindergarten visit and family visit included. We will also have an experience on how to make Chinese dumplings in one of the local families during lunch time. Late this afternoon,we board our flight to Xian, capital of Shaanxi province and the ancient capital of 11 dynasties. Experience a traditional welcome ceremony at one of the old city gates before dinner.
Day 6- XIAN:
Today’s highlight is a visit to the world-famous site of the Qin dynasty- Emperor Qin Shihuangdi’s tomb complex, one of China’s most magnificent archeological finds. Explore the vast underground funeral vault, discovered in 1974, with more than 6,000 life-sized terra cotta warriors and horses, buried with Emperor Qin Shihuang to guard the entrance to his tomb. Other visits include the Buddhist Shrine of Wild Goose Pagoda and Temple. Tonight we enjoy a local flavor of dumpling banquets and a cultural show at the fabulous Tang Dynasty Theater.
Day 7- XIAN/SHANGHAI:
Today, by noon time, we fly to , the “Pearl of the Orient”, China’s most westernized and largest city, where the mighty Yangtze River meets the East China Sea. Upon arrival, we will have a free walk on the bund, the ideal river bank to view both the old and new features of Shanghai. Then we go to see the tranquil Yu Garden and the adjacent Chinese quarter with numerous alleys filled with shops, teahouses and homes. This is a shopper heaven! You will buy another suitcase and fill it with gifts for yourself and your family in prices you never dreamt existed.
Day 8- EXCURSION TO SUZHOU:
Our short journey today takes us to the “Venice of the East”,Suzhou by either coach or train, famous for its canals, traditional Chinese gardens, and fabulous silk production. We visit the beautiful Fisherman’s Garden and the Silk factory before joining a boat ride on the canal. Afternoon return to Shanghai. Tonight after dinner, we attend an astonishing performance of Chinese acrobats.
Day 9- Shanghai:
Today’s full day of sightseeing includes the Jade Buddha Temple,Shanghai Museum, the best of its kind in China; and the Children’s Palace, an after-school activity center for gifted children. We end our spectacular China tour with a farewell dinner of Chinese Dim Sum.
Day 10- JOURNEY HOME:
This morning, we transfer to the airport for our flight home. Arrival on same day. Welcome home you have just returned from a lifetime experience!!!
