Departure on a transatlantic flight. Dinner and movies on board.
Day 3: Cairo
After breakfast, we travel to the Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Our visit will include entrance to the Great Pyramids and a camel ride.
In the afternoon, we visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, which includes the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic artifacts and the treasures of Tutankhamen’s tomb.
Proceed to Khan El Khalili, the world’s largest 13th-century covered oriental bazaar. Dinner and overnight in Cairo
In the morning, we will take a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, transfer to our cruise ship for a 5-day/4-night cruise.
We will visit the East Bank with its Temples of Karnak and Luxor (centuries-old city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, and obelisks).
We will also visit the Valleys of the Kings and Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.
We will enjoy dinner and the Galabaya party (traditional Egyptian show). Dinner and overnight in Luxor.
Early morning sailing to Edfu via Esna. Dinner and overnight in Edfu.
We will travel today to the Temple of Horus, the falcon-god, considered the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak.
We sail to Kom Ombo, where we will visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Sobek and Haroeris, the local crocodile god and the falcon-headed sky-god, respectively.
Our cruise continues to Aswan for overnight.
Morning arrival to Aswan.
We start the day by touring the Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the High Dam.
Sail on board a felucca, a typical Egyptian sailboat, and visit the Kitchener’s Island Botanical Garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum.
Overnight in Aswan. Optional Sound and Light Show in the evening.
After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the airport for our flight to Cairo.
Arrival in Cairo and transfer to the hotel.
In the afternoon, visit Old Cairo, where early Judaism and Christianity flourished. Visit the Al Moallaka Church (Hanging Church), the site where Mary, Joseph, and Jesus took refuge.
Also visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Breakfast, and we start our day with a visit to Alexandria, the magnificent city of Cleopatra and Alexander the Great.
We will visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shugafa, the Fortress of Quait Bay, the National Museum, and the Alexandria Library “Bibliotheca Alexandrina”.
In the afternoon, farewell dinner and overnight in Cairo.
Early morning transfer to the airport. Arrival on the same day.
