THAILAND, CAMBODIA AND VIETNAM

Day 1: Departure from JFK

Day 2: Arrival in Bangkok (D)

Upon arrival at Bangkok’s international airport, we’ll go through the immigration and custom formalities and collect the luggage. We will be greeted and transferred to the city centre. Settle into our rooms and relax in the remainder of the day. This evening we’ll sample Thai cuisine for dinner – a warm welcome to Thailand.

Day 3: Bangkok City Tour (B, D)

Following breakfast, we step into the Old Kingdom of Siam through the Grand Palace. The focal point of the palace is the Emerald Buddha carved out of jade and adorned with gold. We visit Wat Po – one of the oldest temples and home of the famous 45-meter reclining Buddha. Wind down the day with a walk in the Chinatown to see one of the most dynamic and vibrant commercial districts of Bangkok.Later, we return to the hotel to freshen up and enjoy dinner.

Day 4: Bangkok - Floating Market & River Kwai-Bangkok (B, D)

This morning, we set out on a two-hour drive southward to visit Damnoen Saduak floating market in Rachaburi Province. En route, pay a brief visit to the unique Railway Market of Talad Rom Hub. Arriving at Damnoen Saduak, hop on a boat and weave our way through hundreds of other boats topped with flowers, fruits, vegetables, sweets and meats. Being the most popular in Thailand, Damnoen Saduak is great for photographing, tasting local food, and recalling a diminishing practice. After Damoen Saduak, we drive to Kanchanaburi to visit the bridge over the River Kwai, the War Cemetery, and the War Museum We also sample a train ride along the Death Railway before returning to Bangkok for the night.

Day 5:  Bangkok – Siem Reap, Cambodia (B, D)

We take a flight to Siem Reap, the land of Angkor Temples. Arriving at Siem Reap airport, we’ll be met and assisted with the visa obtainment and passport control passage. Collect luggage and come out to meet up our local guide and drive to the hotel. Afternoon, we embark on a city overview tour. In the evening, we feast on a special dinner. Free time afterwards makes for an excellent opportunity to independently explore the festive Pub Street that boasts a myriad of bars and pubs and spas and souvenir shops, and so on. We return to the hotel to enjoy dinner.

Day 6: Siem Reap Angkor Temple Tour (B, D)

Today we start exploring the wonders left by a highly complex civilization that controlled the greater part of Southeast Asia for four centuries. We rise early, around 5:00 AM, and ride a Tuk Tuk to Angkor Wat. En route back to the hotel, we’ll visit Wat Thmei to learn about Cambodia’s tragic history. Enjoy breakfast and the rest of the morning the way we fancy.Afternoon, we continue with the jungle-clad temple of Ta Prohm and the Grand City of Angkor Thom. Traverse the complex and marvel at the South Gate, the temples of Baphoun and Phimeanakas, the Terraces of Elephant and Leper King, and especially the mysterious smiling Bayon. We have a chance to behold the magnificent sunset into the land of temples from the sacred hill of Bakheng or Pre Rup-temple. We return to the hotel to enjoy dinner.

Day 7:  Siem Reap - Hanoi, Vietnam (B, D)

After breakfast, we head to Tonle Lake to get a taste of life ruled by monsoonal rains and water-based agriculture on and around one of the most productive bodies of fresh water in the world. Walk through the lovely Pour Krom village to get a feel of authentic rural Khmer life. Proceed to Chong Kneas and embark on a cruise to see floating villages moving in and out due to the varying water level. Over time, the floating community has evolved to have almost everything villages on land have, including schools and spiritual structures. Afternoon, we bid farewell to Siem Reap and fly to Hanoi, the ancient and elegant capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival at Hanoi airport, we’ll be met and escorted to the hotel in city center for dinner and overnight.

Day 7:  Siem Reap - Hanoi, Vietnam (B, D)

Day 8: Hanoi City Tour (B, D)

After breakfast we set out to discover the most outstanding attractions of Hanoi. Historical emphasis on the arts and learning stipulates that buildings in Hanoi remain small, simple and in harmony with nature. we visit to the complex of memorials to Ho Chi Minh to know his amazing life. Continue to the Single Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. Break the tour at noon and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll be touring the Museum of Ethnology to see the fascinating exhibition of the country’s ethnic cultures. Next, we enjoy a rickshaw ride through the lively Old Quarter, a series of 36 ancient streets where peddlers still trade the way they have done for centuries. After dinner, stay free or further explore the Old Quarter independently.

Day 9: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B, L, D)

Enjoy breakfast at hotel before a three-hour journey east to Halong Bay, Vietnam's greatest natural wonder. Upon arrival, board a deluxe overnight boat and navigate into the protected area of Halong Bay which has been twice recognized a World Heritage Site. Behold the surreal seascape of numerous islands and islets and rocks searing out of the emerald waters, immersing in the tranquility, and getting inspired. Visit one of the many beautiful caves, a floating village or a pearl farm, and have a chance to swim or paddle a kayak. Stay overnight aboard our floatel.

Day 10: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Departure (Morning Coffee, Brunch, D)

Early risers can take part in a Tai Chi class on the sundeck. In the early morning many of the islands are alive with the sound of various sea birds nesting in the thick green vegetation that engulfs the limestone karsts. Enjoy a lavish brunch onboard whilst the boat slowly turns back to the shore, weaving through strange-shaped rock formations that invite comparisons from fighting cocks to dragons and even further! Disembark around 11:00 AM and return to Hanoi. We’ll have time to further explore the city and enjoy lunch before transferring to the airport for our departure flight back home.

Day 11: Back in the US.
