Turkey and Greece - The churches of Revelation and an Aegean Sea Cruise

Day 1

Departure. Transatlantic flight including dinner, breakfast, and onboard entertainment.

Day 2

Arrival in Istanbul, where Aviatours staff will assist you. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3

Istanbul. After breakfast, we will depart from the hotel for a tour of the old city. We will visit the majestic and elegant Blue Mosque, known for its interior decorations. Next, we will visit the Byzantine-era Hippodrome and then the Hagia Sophia, which was the largest church for 1,000 years. In the afternoon, we will visit Topkapi Palace, the residence of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire, famous for its fine collection of jewels and porcelain. We will pass by the Valens Aqueduct. The last stop will be the Church of St. Savior in Chora, which houses a unique collection of Byzantine-era frescoes and mosaics. Overnight stay.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will depart for Canakkale. Enjoy the panoramic views along the way and the guide's commentary. Dinner and overnight in Canakkale.

Day 5

Troy – Pergamon – Izmir. Today we will visit ancient Troy, the famous city of nine levels. The city's fame comes from Homer's "Iliad" and the Trojan War with the Trojan Horse. We will continue to Pergamon, considered the most auspicious of the seven churches (Revelation 2:12-17). We will visit its Acropolis, where, along with the ruins of the Temple of Athena and the Library, the impressively inclined Great Theater stands out. We will continue to Izmir for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Izmir – Sardis – Philadelphia – Laodicea – Pamukkale. Today we will begin our day by visiting the city of Izmir (also known as Smyrna, another of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse). We will continue our pilgrimage by visiting two more churches: Sardis with its immense synagogue and the Temple of Artemis (Rev. 2:12-17), and Philadelphia, the pagan center (Rev. 3:7-13). We will end the day in Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.

Day 7

Pamukkale / Ephesus / Kusadasi: Today we will continue to Ephesus, the city with a population of 250,000 in the first and second centuries BC. (Acts 19:1-41) Saint Paul visited Ephesus between 55 and 58 BC. The apostle Paul visited Ephesus between AD 55 and 58, and his ministry included preaching, conversion, and baptism. He was also imprisoned there. Mary, the mother of Jesus, lived in Ephesus after his crucifixion. During this excursion, you will visit the Temple of Hadrian, the Roman Baths, the Library, the Odeon, the Theater of Ephesus, as well as the House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 8

Today we will board our two-day cruise around the Greek islands. Our first port of call will be Patmos. Here St. John wrote the Book of Revelation (Rev. 1:9-11). Disembark and enjoy free time on the island or take part in the optional excursion to the Monastery of St. John and the Cave where he lived.

Day 9

Crete – Santorini: Our next port of call will be Crete, where the Apostle Paul appointed Titus as his assistant and instructed him to establish congregations in “every town” (Titus 1:5). Remainder of the day at leisure. Return to the ship.

Day 10

Arrival at the port of Piraeus. We will proceed to visit Corinth. The apostle Saint Paul lived in Corinth for 18 months, where he found a city of poor moral values ​​and experienced rejection, but a city that eventually accepted Christianity (Acts 18:1-17). From the Bema (judicial seat), he preached the Word of God to the Corinthians. We will visit the Archaeological Museum, the Market, the Bema, and the Temples. We will continue to Athens, the cradle of Western civilization. We will visit the Acropolis, the Agora, the Martian Hills, and the Pnyx, where democracy was born. We will see the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Presidential Palace. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 11

Return flight. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. Arrival the same day. Welcome! You have completed a unique trip!
